Join our expert elephant keepers behind the scenes at Project Elephant Base Camp. You’ll have the opportunity to find out about our herd of Asian elephants, learn how we look after them and have a tour of the elephant enclosure.

Dates & Price

Price: £150 for one person and £230 for two people (includes zoo admission). 

Dates: We only have a limited number of spaces available for each interaction, please check the booking calendar, by clicking on the link above to check availability. We only allow bookings up to 6 months in advance.

Please note we have limited availability at weekends and school holidays so please allow plenty of time to book your interaction. Extensions will not be given. 

What to expect

Come face to trunk with one of our magnificent Asian elephants during our Elephant Encounter.

Join our expert elephant keepers behind the scenes at Project Elephant Base Camp. You’ll have the opportunity to find out about our herd of Asian elephants, learn how we look after them and have a tour of the elephant enclosure.

All activities are done through a protective barrier and you will not be in the same enclosed area as the elephant at any time during the experience.

We only accept one booking per slot, so your interaction will be exclusive to you… and your friends if you can bring yourself to share!

Each interaction lasts for up to 45 minutes and you will be free to enjoy the zoo for the remainder of the day. This interaction includes admission into the zoo and you’ll also get a complimentary car park pass and certificate.

What you need to know

  • Prices: £150 for one person and £230 for two people.
  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Interaction includes entry into the zoo for the day.
  • Any additional requirements, please let us know so we can accommodate your needs where possible.
  • The interaction may require the participants to access the enclosure via stairs. If you require more information on accessibility, please contact us.

    • You must be at least 18 years old to participate in this experience.
    • Animal interactions are non-refundable so please ensure you have read all terms and conditions for your chosen interaction before purchasing.
    • Maximum 2 participants per experience.

The purchase of additional non-participating guests can be made on the day of the experience at Visitor Services and they can only access the zoo after 10.00am. This interaction will take place behind the scenes and in staff-only areas which are not visible or accessible to non-participating guests.
